About Alauda Build of OpenTelemetry

Alauda Build of OpenTelemetry is based on the open source OpenTelemetry project and provides a standardized, vendor-neutral way to collect telemetry data from cloud-native applications. It helps teams build consistent observability pipelines for traces, metrics, and logs without binding application instrumentation to a single backend.

The OpenTelemetry Collector is the core runtime for receiving, processing, and exporting telemetry data. It can run close to workloads as an agent or serve as a centralized gateway, making it suitable for both application-level instrumentation and platform-level telemetry pipelines.

Alauda Build of OpenTelemetry provides the following capabilities:

  • Multi-signal collection for traces, metrics, and logs
  • Protocol and format translation for connecting different telemetry sources and backends
  • Telemetry processing for enriching, filtering, batching, and transforming data before export
  • Flexible export destinations for forwarding telemetry data to observability backends such as distributed tracing systems
  • Auto-instrumentation support for reducing the amount of manual code changes required to collect basic telemetry

By placing OpenTelemetry between workloads and observability backends, teams can decouple application instrumentation from backend implementation details. This makes it easier to standardize telemetry collection across clusters, migrate between backends, and control telemetry traffic before data is stored or queried.

Note
Because Alauda Build of OpenTelemetry v2 releases on a different cadence from Alauda Container Platform, the Alauda Build of OpenTelemetry v2 documentation is now available as a separate documentation set at Alauda Build of OpenTelemetry v2.
